Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) Examination

Overview

The last offering of AAT Examination was held in December 2018. AAT students partway through their studies can claim cross-credit for the relevant modules of the new Qualification Programme ("QP") of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("HKICPA") when they wish to continue to take examinations under the new QP. The Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) Examination confirms your knowledge that a competent accounting technician should possess, building a broad awareness in various aspects of accounting and business. It is one of the key requirements for you to apply for the Associate Membership of the HKIAAT. The HKIAAT syllabus has been developed to match Hong Kong's unique business market. The qualification is in demand by the public and private sectors in Hong Kong. It is gaining a foothold outside Hong Kong, in mainland China and overseas. It is the only designation of its kind that's recognised by educational institutes locally and overseas and Hong Kong's sole statutory regulatory body for accountants - the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The AAT qualification is a good qualification for the young generation to start a career as an accounting technician. It also offers opportunities for them to articulate to higher academic and professional qualification in accounting.
