Accredited Accounting Technician (AAT) Foundation Examination
HKIAAT (Secondary School Group) Scholarship
The aims of the scholarship are to recognize academic merits; to encourage senior secondary students to pursue the examinations run by the Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians Limited (HKIAAT); and to serve as a new source of financial aid for deserving students.
Eligibility
- All secondary schools offering the subject "Business, Accounting and Financial Studies" (BAFS) with the accounting module are eligible for nomination of the scholarship. However, the cohort size of the accounting module should not be less than 20 students per year.
- Each eligible secondary school may nominate one full-time F.5 student who is studying BAFS accounting module for the scholarship. The nominee shall be the top student in BAFS within the whole form (based on F.4 result) and he / she should be studying accounting module in F.5. In addition, the nominee should have attained at least a pass in all other subjects in F.4. In case the top student in BAFS did not choose to study accounting module in F.5, the second best within the top five students who is studying accounting module shall become the nominee.
- The candidate nominated should be of good character and has a track record in participating extra-curricular activities.
Award procedures
- Nominations are to be submitted by schools. Completed nomination form, together with supporting documents (e.g. copies of transcript, certificate of merit, etc), should be sent to the HKIAAT for consideration.
- The decision of the HKIAAT is final. Any school which has been granted an award should not assume that the same award will be granted automatically the following year.
- The scholarship will be presented in the HKIAAT Annual Award and Graduation Ceremony cum New Members’ Reception which will be held in around March.
Value and validity of Scholarship
- The scholarship is presented in kind, in the form of a fee waiver, at a value of HK$1,000 covering the examination fees of the two papers of the AAT Foundation Examination on a one-off basis as follows:
- The validity of the scholarship is two years, meaning that the award will be forfeited after the validity period ends. All award recipients must commence to claim the scholarship within one year and complete all two papers of the AAT Foundation Examination within two years from the date of receiving the award. An undertaking on the commitment to sit the AAT Foundation Examination must be signed before receiving the award. Otherwise, the award will be withdrawn by the HKIAAT.
