Applied Learning for Senior Secondary Students
Prospective AAT Club
Secondary school students who are studying for the Institute's ApL course "Practical Accounting for Small and Medium Enterprises" are eligible to join the Prospective AAT Club. The club is specially set up to foster a closer link between the Institute and the ApL students; to enable them to better understand what an accounting profession is all about the what academic advancement is open to them.
Visits for Applied Learning Students
In June and July 2007, the HKIAAT Secretariat welcomed five groups of visitors, comprising a total of 110 secondary school students, who are studying for the Applied Learning Course "Practical Accounting for SMEs". These visits form an important part of students' learning experience by getting them out of their classroooms to gain valuable insight into the practical side of the accounting profession.
Once at the Secretariat, students were given a briefing on the route they can take to get an Accredited Accounting Technician qualification upon graduation from their course. They were pleased to find out that they are eligible to join the Prospective AAT Club - which is tailor-made for secondary school students - so that they can keep abreast of developments in the accounting profession from an early stage in their studies. After the briefing, they toured the Secretariat to find out about what the HKIAAT does and the services it offers to students and members.
