2015 has been a challenging year for the HKIAAT. As you all know, we and our mother institute, the HKICPA, have undertaken to reform the CPA qualifying process, beginning in early 2014. Following our efforts through these two years of in-depth researches, reviews and discussions, we hope to finalise and announce the details of the new HKICPA Qualification Framework in a Consultation Paper in the third quarter of 2016.

In the meantime, the HKICPA is developing the CPA Competence Blueprint which encompasses examinations, workshops and practical experience under the new framework, and which will be incorporated into the Consultation Paper for public consultation in 2016.

We are excited to welcome a brand new chapter and a significant milestone in the development of future professional accountants. May I wish you all a fruitful and joyful 2016!

Thomas Wong
President of HKIAAT
