Applied Learning for Senior Secondary Curriculum
Starting from the 2010/11 school year, students can take Applied Learning (ApL) courses as elective subjects in their S5 and S6 studies. The HKIAAT ApL course “Practical Accounting for SMEs” is on the Education Bureau’s recommended course list. In order to let students understand more about our ApL course to help them make informed choices, we are delighted to arrange briefing sessions for schools and offer taster programmes for students. Click on the course brochure, briefing session requisition form and taster programme details for more information and to apply.

This programme “Little reporters - meeting the professionals” is a continuation of the HKIAAT Accounting and Business Management Case Competition, and the little reporters are the competition winners. This programme aims to further strengthen the little reporters’ generic skills and to widen their horizon through exposure to the real world by giving them the opportunity to interact with CPAs.

The four little reporters from Cognitio College (Kowloon) interviewed Mr. Dennis Chung, partner at CWCC. Click here to read the interview article and to see how the little reporters found their interview experience.

Non-accounting major graduates can start a bright new chapter in their careers with the AAT qualification. Experienced accounting practitioner Mr. Patrick Rozario from Grant Thornton tells the success story of an e-commerce graduate, Ms. Liz Lee, who has become an accounting professional through the AAT qualification. Liz also talks about her exciting career in corporate governance with Grant Thornton and how her AAT studies help to further her career.

Question in this issue:
Happy Minnie: I am a form 7 student this year and wish to work in the accounting field in future. Therefore, I plan to study for the AAT qualification. Does the HKIAAT accredit any courses so that I can enroll directly after my matriculation?
Our answer: Over 60 accounting programmes taught by various education institutes have been accredited by the HKIAAT. Graduates of these programmes are eligible to claim exemptions from a maximum of seven papers in the AAT examinations.
