This is where we post and answer students’ questions about the accounting profession and the AAT qualification. If you have any questions you would like to ask us, you are welcome to send them to sandy.ku@hkiaat.org. We are always pleased to answer your questions.

Question in this issue:
David Wong: I am a final year student of a three-year higher diploma in accountancy. I know the New Qualification Framework (NQF) has been launched in June and there is a set of transitional arrangements: what are the details of this?
Our answer:
Students who are studying HKIAAT accredited programmes which commenced before 1 September 2009 are eligible for cross-credit exemptions. Furthermore, if these students complete all AAT examinations (either by exemption or by examination) by June 2011 and register as HKIAAT members by 31 December 2011, they will be exempt from the Professional Assessment and one-year work experience in their assessment for membership admission.
